I was going to write something else for this post, but with all my loved ones who are already struggling because of this pandemic, this seemed more important.

Working remotely is going to be an option for a ton of people, but not everyone. Especially not those who are in the performance / bartending / music gig/restaurant/movie making communities who rely on gatherings of people to make their businesses and ideas blossom. This will even affect artists who can't showcase their work in galleries for people to visit or vendors who sell their gorgeous wares at festivals and other outdoor events like farmer's markets, local art shows, and swapmeets.

How can we help these friends through tough times?

WE CAN:

•Buy their online goods. (art prints, t-shirts, pins, crafts, online classes, and courses. WHATEVER they have available online!)

•Replay their songs and videos and much as we can on their youtube / Spotify channels. (like seriously. even mute it and let it play on repeat all night long.)

•Buy gift cards for your favorite local restaurants so they have funds to keep going, and then you can treat yourself later when their businesses get to be open again.

•Shop small markets if possible in your area.

•Try to support artisans on Etsy rather than buying things via amazon.

If money is tight and none of that is possible:

•Keep commenting on their posts. (Be annoying, I dare you. we'll love it. Have whole conversations in the comment section)

•Help them boost their engagement by liking and sharing.

•Leave reviews for things you love!

•Leave comments on videos about how much you love their music or dance.

I know a little positivity can go a long way, but it can't take care of our bills. Let's help each other as best as we can through this really weird and honestly kind of frightening time.

So here's how I'm starting. I got a couple shirts from one of my favorite illustrators on the planet.

Tag your artisan friends, fav local businesses, or whoever you want down below so I can check them out! And maybe you all will do the same.❤️

We CAN get through this together you guys.
